After your carpet has been cleaned, the best way to keep up with your carpet is to vacuum. Keeping dirt from settling into your carpet keeps it looking cleaner and helps prevent wear. Make sure you are changing your vacuum bag regularly.
What to Do About Stains and Spills
Use 1 ounce of a light, neutral detergent in ½ quart of lukewarm water. Sponge the solution on the spill and rub from the outside edge of the stain or spill toward the center. Work the solution into a lather, then sponge off with clear, cool water. Next, mix a tablespoon of white vinegar in ½ quart of cold water and sponge area to remove suds. Dry as quickly as possible with absorbent paper or white towel, then weigh towel down with a heavy object overnight. Remove towel and lightly brush area to restore normal texture.
